So could someone please tell me what Steve Wozniak's participation was in the Mac rollout? Did he ONLY drive a golf cart in with the new Mac w/IIe card into the auditorium?? He didn't say anything? So then he left (the stage at least) after he dropped off the Mac?? I'm just curious. I saw a picture in the paper where Woz was driving a golf cart and someone else mentioned it here. I just was wondering exactly what he did. I dunno... Woz always seemed to still be 'loyal' to the Apple // over the Mac.. And he surely doesn't need the money.. So why'd he do this??? [God, I sure hope something doesn't happen that makes me lose my awe of Woz! I started losing it for Jobs a few years ago when I found out he was the person who started the death of the Apple // by slowing/cancelling many projects to improve the Apple II.... This was around the time the Mac came out] {Also weird that I may someday buy a NeXT from the person who hastened the death of my favorite computer. Unfortunately, the NeXT and the Amiga seem to be the best prospects WHEN I FEEL I NEED A NEW COMPUTER. Even if Apple officially said tomorrow the II was dead I wouldn't rush out and buy a new computer.. But I'd want to buy another one sometime, even if it were not NECESSARY. If I had the money, it'd be nice to buy a computer that was 'wanted' and supported by lots of companies (Amiga specifically here)... I am trying to get the GS wanted and supported currently... WRITE TO SOFTWARE PUBLISHERS/AUTHORS WHEN YOU SEE/HEAR ABOUT A GOOD GAME ON ANOTHER COMPUTER! ASK FOR A GS or IIe VERSION! WE STILL NEED MORE LETTERS TO ORIGIN TO ABSOLUTELY make it clear lots of people want ULTIMA VI GS an ULTIMA VI //e} -- / Apple II(GS) Forever! unknown@ucscb.ucsc.edu \ \"If cartoons were meant for adults, they'd be on in prime time."-Lisa Simpson/

All Wozniak did during the Mac Rollout is that he drove Karen Whats-her-name in from the manufacturing plant to the presentation stage on an Apple golf cart. What did it mean? Did he need the money? Let's get real. It looked to me like he just had a load of fun doing it and that was about it. I wish you people would stop trying to interpret meanings into things that probably don't have any. After all, "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar" as Sigmund Freud said. In this case I believe that Woz just enjoyed driving the golf cart. If you want to attribute anything to it, then maybe it is worth thinking that "God" Woz, through his actions, has sanctioned the Mac. I never believed these rumors that Woz hated the Mac. Sure, he likes the Apple II, but why should he hate the Mac. Here he has demonstrated how ludicrous this idea is. uucp : ucrmath!alchemy!hzink | Achieve True Wealth and Financial Independence! If he were still Apple's CEO, I think he would have wised up...It's a question of "Who do you trust (more)?" Sculley or Jobs. Personally, I think Jobs is a bit more qualified than Sculley to be Chief Technical Officer. (more than three neurons firing, etc.) Remember, the temporary rebirth of the Apple II (Apple II Forever Day, '84) was Jobs' idea. Isn't it fascinating that whenever you read an article about Apple Computer these days that you continuously hear what this manager is doing, or what that director is doing. Damn, but Apple has become bureaucratic! Everybody who works there must have a job title...If Apple wanted to cut costs and improve efficiency, it should trash the managers (titled nobility) and the spam-brained marketing people. And oh those marketeers. I seem to recall that in '84, Apple won an award for truth in advertising (a Mac TV commercial). Don't think they would win one these days. >---------------------------------------------------------------------------- >Howard C.
