Can anyone help me with my Apple IIe? It doesnt want to read from any cards in the slots. When you turn on the computer, it says Apple IIe and gives a prompt. The drive card I am using is fine, and when I run the system test on the computer, it says that everyting is okay...What should I do? Thanks a lot, Shane

First, take every card out of the machine (printer card, hard drive, modem card, etc...) Put the disk drive card in slot 6, and turn on the machine... If the disk drive light doesn't light up, then a) the disk drive is dead b) the disk drive card is dead c) both are dead The only thing that you can really do is find another card and disk drive to see if you can isolate which one is bad. This will probably require a trip to the dealer.

You might try cleaning the edge connectors on your peripheral cards. It's important to get a good electrical connection between the motherboard and the "fingers" on the card. Other than that, you said that the system test comes out OK and the cards are OK (did you test them in someone else's computer?). That being the case, I can't think of anything else that might be wrong, other than some motherboard failure--maybe the cards don't get power, for example. If disk drives won't work, maybe the +12V supply is dead--but that would cause the entire system to die, not just the drives. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scott Alfter _/_ / v \ Apple II: Internet: alfter@uns-helios.nevada.edu ( ( the power to be your best!
