How about a possibly different scenario RE the LC with //e emulator? Your company, school or whatever buys a few of these and a bunch of Mac software. One day you notice a novice computer user trying to wade through 600 pages of Pagemaker manual to turn out a simple brochure. You put the LC into //e mode, pop in Publish-it!3 and show them how to do it in about five minutes. Now you've got their attention, so set the hook. Publish-it!3 will print to the laserwriter just like Pagemaker but what about an Imagewriter, which is more in the ballpark for a home buyer? Compare the print quality of Mac software on a dot matrix printer to the quality of // software. Most Mac software is written for the laserwriter and can't compare to the output of the // when a dot matrix printer is used. Now we talk about prices. A //c+, mouse, memory card with a meg and lots of // software can be purchased for the price of some Mac software packages alone. ( This isn't to exclude the GS, now that you've got their attention you can show them one ). Imagine the look on the boss or lab managers face when he comes in some afternoon and finds all of his $3000 LCs running Publish-it!, Timeout enhanced Appleworks and Printshop. Bridges connect both ways. bob church bchurch.oucsace.cs.ohiou.edu

I think it would be hilarious if people bought the LC and IIe emulator and spent most of their time using IIe software! I'm certain that that would make more than a few jaws drop!! I agree with many others though, that Apple is causing much confusion in the Apple II world by doing this though. Sometime I wonder if those marketing people really know that they're doing! I almost wish that they'd tell us what their intentions are. It seems like they're just groping around in the dark, maybe they should hire some Apple II nuts to market the II line.
