Oops.  My summary of responses was a little incomplete:

I thought I mentioned that Better Writer (or a title close to that) was a
usable low priced commercial WP that I have used a little.  It is found in
software stores (some) and some book stores.  Might also be available via
mail order.  Will likely fall between the price of FredWriter and AW.
