Has anyone had any experiences with the InnerEXPRESS for the inner/overdrive? It's a chip that takes the place of another chip on the controller card and supposedly makes the drive 200-300% faster! That would make it faster that a vulcan and, I think, even faster that a drive with the RamFast card. If aynyone has any specifics or details, please share the info.

A sysop here in town (Chattanooga) recently got one put in his innerdrive
he uses for his BBS. I havn't noticed any siginificant improvement in the
speed when I call the board. He's using Pro-line? software and the data -
librarian took forever and a day to come up before he got the chip...
now it just takes forever. I think he said, when he got it, that it was only
supposed to increase the speed by about 10% I could be wrong, but I DO remembe
r that I wasn't at all impressed with what it's supposed to be... and anything
more than about 50% would impress me.

If you have an account on America Online, you'll be able to find at LEAST two files of information about the InnerExpress there; look in the Apple II Hardware Forum (keyword: AHW), Software Libraries, NEW FILES category, for the files: 07/22 The Inner Express 07/22 Apple II Hardware Conf Log 07/21/90 The latter file is the transcript of a conference where the IE was discussed in detail. You can probably also find yet-more information on the IE in the Let's Discuss message boards of that same forum on AO. Good luck! :) Joseph F. I forgot to mention that the poor performance increase of the InnerExpress was on a GS with Ingenuity's InnerDriver (custom GS/OS driver). Evidently the Express rom does about the same as the driver. There might be a sizeable speed increase with a //e, however. I'd be sure to call and ask them. The number of the company is: New Concepts, Inc. 665 West Jackson Street, Suite #2 Woodstock, IL 60098 (815) 338 4227 Express is available mail order for much less (~$89). -- Jawaid Bazyar | Blondes in big black cars look better wearing Senior/Computer Engineering | their dark sunglasses at night. Re: InnerExpress: chip or card? Well, since it's just a chip for the InnerDrive controller and I don't have an InnerDrive (or any other HD :-( ), I guess that takes care of my questions right there. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scott Alfter _/_ / v \ Apple II: Internet: alfter@uns-helios.nevada.edu ( ( the power to be your best!
