[comp.sys.apple2] To heck & back with Apple Inc.

marekp@pnet91.cts.com (Marek Pawlowski) (11/01/90)

All this complaining and speculating on Apple dumping the Apple, is good
to a point. But after that, who cares?

In my own, personal opinion, I really don't give a darn about Apple, and
what they do with the Apple //GS, or 65(c)02 series computers.

Now to support the above statement. When I bought my Apple //c around
1984 or so, that was the last time it would have anything to do with Apple.
The machine is great, it has never broken down on me, and Apple has had no
direct influence at ALL on my computer (hardware wise), nor software wise.
The only software influence, was ProDOS. That's about it.

My theory behind the "users, let Apple go" judgement, is that as long as
we have each other (the users and owners of the machine), our software market
will thrive (cheaper prices, better quality. Look at Brian Greenstone's work,
and MANY others) for the users. There are many 3rd parties out there, who
live only off Apple (when I say Apple, I'm not including the Macs) products,
or at least mostly, and will stay in the market as long as there is demand.
There will be no demand, until MANY people decide to dump their Apple's out
the window themselves. This will be a very, very, very long time.

I am satisfied with my computer, it suits my needs (usually :), and I
have no plans for selling/discarding it. But whether Apple continues to make
the computer or not. If they support the computer, or not. I'll be happy
with what I got. And I trust that the people out there will continue to make
software, and if they don't -- dammit -- I will.
