[comp.sys.apple2] Rastan.

lbotez@pro-sol.cts.com (Lynda Botez) (08/15/90)

For those who are curious as to what happened to Rastan (which is finished);
apparantly John Brooks' copy protection is causing duplicating problems.

It seems the disks won't boot after duplication. So, we still have to wait
until the problem is fixed.

You mean until the problem is installed. It's hard to believe that people
are still ruining perfectly good software with copy protection.

This may be a naive questions but who is John Brooks and what is the
problem with his copy protection??

I hope we haven't punished the messenger for the message. Thanks for the

Rastan GS is finally shipping.

I spoke with John Brooks Thursday, and he said it was out. So go out and buy
this one; I've played it and it's great! The ultimate in GS gameware...

For all of you who think Rastan GS is not hard drive installable... good
news...

*******************************************

About Rastan, it is hard drive installable, but there were no instructions
regarding this in the manual [oops]. All you have to do is create a
directory on your HD, and copy RASTAN.SYSTEM, MAPS, and RASTAN into it
from disk A, then copy all the files from diskB/Rastan into the RASTAN
directory as well. Then prefix to the directory with RASTAN.SYSTEM in it
and do a -RASTAN.SYSTEM....

This was from John, who also reminded everyone to please buy this game
as it was extremely expensive for Taito, and also if the GS community wants
more games, it would help show Taito that we're worth supporting.

I'll buy it as soon as I can find it! By the time it shows up in local
software stores, Taito may well have given up on the IIGS. Distributors
are simply not getting new IIGS software to the stores at the rate that
it could sell. Then the poor sales confirm their preconception.. a real
vicious circle.

Does anybody know for sure which mail-order outfits have Rastan GS in stock?

I've got a question for all of you Rastan experts out there. I can
get up to level 3C, but the big bad dude there smashes me every time.
Is there a special "formula" to follow to kill this dude?
