[comp.sys.apple2] Sampled Instrument Files

v097pba8@ubvmsd.cc.buffalo.edu (Ken F Morton) (11/08/90)

After much mindless banter on the Apple II RT on GEnie, we came to this
conclusion:
The sound program perhaps most needed is one that can place
	LOOPS in the sample.

SoundSmith WILL play out the looped samples for as long as you want. All
you have to do is play a 0 vol note to end it (or another on the save voice).
I accomplished this by using instruments from EA's Instant Synth. This program
has the ability to place loops, but it is rather slow and crude. Unfortunately
I do not own a sampler card so I was not able to produce my own.

What is needed is a program to do the aforementioned as well as convert
between all types.

      Someone up to some coding?

BTW So much more can be done with SS with looped Samples - that was it's only
shortcoming...

I have your request for a player capable of looping samples buffered. I
am partially involved in the Sound/FX project. This is a software undertaking
which will eventually lead to (we hope) the end-all-be-all of GS sequencing
and sound sampling software. I've posted messages on rec.music.synth for
"wish lists" of features, and so far I've received 7 e-mail responses. I will
be forwarding all these suggestions to the authors for consideration. Don't
hold your breath though... it might be another four months or so before we get
a full-functioning copy.
