I don't know about the speed of the mac but from my experience on the mac, I'd say that the GS is faster for some programs and the mac is faster for most. The main program that I use on the Mac (SE) is Mac Pascal.. this sucker is slow! I type a line of code and then wait for the program to display it for a while and then go to the next line. The scrolling is pretty good but everything else kinda sucks. I use ORCA/Pascal on the GS and the scrolling is TONS faster and smoother and the typing speed is TONS better. It actually does a good job of keeping up with my typing.
