Hi, I have quite a large sum of data on Apple//e that I would like to transfer to a Mac or an IBM. The only way I could think was finding a modem and transfering the files through the phone lines. It should be possible to link up an Apple//e and IBM, but I have no idea about how to do it. Maybe some computers (with the help of software) can even read Apple disks, which would just solve all my problems. I need help. I am feeling lost. I do not have a modem at hand and since this is going to be a one time thing I don't really want to purchase one either. I would appreciate any help that would save me 10 days of typing in front of a computer. Yusuf Pisan yusuf@eecs.nwu.edu ---------- signature files are STOOOPID!!!

If you can find a Mac, use "Apple File Exchange", which is included with the system software. It can transfer files between Apple //'s, Macs, and IBMs. It also has specialized translators that may be able to retain formatting information for wordprocessing documents and the like. Wait a minute, you do have a 3.5" drive don't you? Failing that, you could get a "null modem" cable, which is simply a cable without a modem that directly connects the two computers. You'd need a serial card for the //e though. -- Charles William Swiger cs4w+@andrew.cmu.edu
