[comp.sys.apple2] GIF pictures

PYC121@URIACC.URI.EDU (Andy Kress) (11/06/90)

Now that we have more than one GIF viewer program for the GS, I was looking
for some good GIF file archives. I want pictures that range from acceptable
to what many would call "unacceptable". BTW....a long time ago I found a
site that had Olivera pictures on it, but I didn't write down the number.
Anyone know where they are? Any help would be appreciated....also my last few
posts never recieved any replies, not sure if no one knew or whether this
isn't making it out into net land....if you do have any info, please send
 1) so I get an answer and 2) so I know my messages are getting out there!

                                                Thanks!

I got your message concerning the GIF's, in case you wanted to know...
with the GIF-to-3200 converters, I find the 320x200x256-colour VGA GIF's
translate the best. Anything with higher resolution needs to be scrunched
down, and you lose most of the detail. Besides, the 320x200 GIF's don't take
as long to download as the monstrous 800x600x256-colour beauties!

The only one I know of is Jonah Stich's GIF.3200 (or gif.sys16, as he
calls it). I think one of the French groups also have a similar converter,
but I haven't seen it around here. If someone has the French effort, could it
be uploaded to comp.binaries? Thanks.
