[comp.sys.apple2] Licensing restrictions

Tabakal@UB.CC.UMICH.EDU (11/13/90)

There have been a number of requests recently for certain software to
"appear" on the FTP sites. These include calls for Apple System
Software 5.0.3 and Glen Bredon's new ProSel update.

Well, sorry folks, but we can't do it. Apple and Bredon have specificly
stated that we can't publish them online. If you want them, go
to Genie, America Online, CompuServe, or a local User Group that has
a licensing agreement. Unless and until these companies give their
permission, it's a federal crime for any of the FTP organizers to
provide these programs and make them subject to $50,000 per violation.

Same goes for comp.binaries.apple2. Fines could be pretty hefty.
And, Glen is noted to be fairly ornery when it comes to people who
unintentionally pirate his software. Goes back to the Sider days.

Think before you post.
