A few yrs ago the C Users Group was working on porting cpio to all of the machines for whom they had software. This would allow them to create one format floppy and anyone could read it. Does anyone know of the resulting cpio for Apples? I would surely like to get such a critter which would run under ProDOS 8 and be able to read cpio 3.5" disks. Then I could create a floppy on my SPARC at work and read it at home. Likewise, if the program is flexible enough, in theory I could create a cartridge tape at work, and, if I owned a SCSI tape drive at home, be able to read it - right? I am told that there are different formats of the tapes on the Suns at work - some can write 50 meg and some 100 meg or so. How would one write a cpio so that it could be able to tell which format the tape was in? -- Larry W.
