[net.space] Soviet failure to rendezvous

ddw (04/24/83)

I retain enough national chauvinism to have felt a faint glow at the thought
that the latest Soviet manned space shot was unable to dock with the Salyut
space station and had to return to earth. HOWEVER, it is incredibly bad taste
to do as arlan andrews has done and gloat about it over the net. I was
irresistably reminded of a six-year-old going "Nyah, nyah, your space mission
failed!"

I've seen something of andrews's political beliefs in other newsgroups. I
just wish he'd confine them to those groups. Those who are enthusiastic
about manned space flight don't generally rejoice when any research mission
fails. After all, we may get some data, even from a Russian shot.
