[comp.sys.apple2] to //gs, or not to //gs?

cyliao@hardy.u.washington.edu (Chun-Yao Liao) (11/23/90)

Hi guys! :-)
I've been thinking this for a long time... I want a //gs, but can't afford
one specially since I got this monster computer (NeXT). But I missed so
much of my Apple. These days, most of the software, regardless commercial,
share, freeware, that comes out are for //gses. Specially those
demos from FTA, SoundSmith, to name a few. Plus, I will still be able to
use my investment of // software on this machine. So my solution is:

o sell my //c (with ZipChip 8 MHz)
motherboard swapped for upgrade in less an year ago (so it's pretty
	  like new board)
o with the money, I will buy
		- GS motherboard from Pre-Owned or Sun-Remarketing
		- an used Apple 3.5 compatible drive
		- SCSI card, anyone upgraded to DMA SCSI card would let their
old non-DMA SCSI card go at low price? (ps, I have a spare
		  FAST 40 meg drive)
		- 1 meg non-DMA RAM card (why non-DMA? cheaper, of course,
and every one today are going DMA, and selling their older
non-DMA card, so feed me, but at low price, please:-)
		- used GS keyboard or compatible (anyone bought adb+ and have
		  the gs keyboard lying around?)
		- get a used Amiga monitor or anything that is compatible
with //gs's monitor but at fraction of costs.
	o I have
		- power supply from my //+ clone (200w!)
		- possible use //+ case to fit //gs board too :-)

I know I will still end up pouring money from my pocket, of couse,
with you guys' help, I might be able to get ALL these without much
out of my pocket. However, first I have to sell the //c I have.
	So how is my //c?

o excellent condition, you must see it to believe me.
	o periodically hardware mantainance
o adjusted keyboard and keys for smoother typing :-)
o drive mechanism is also carefully mantained periodically
	  you have to hear it.

when I took my //c to Apple Dealer for a swap (upgrade), they
(the technisians) couldn't believe seeing it so new, while is with
serial number below d510001. They thought the machien was less than
	an year old that time!

	So what do I need?
o I need people who buy my //c
o people offer me hte parts I need at lower price possible
o people to direct me where to get these parts I need and where
	  to get at low price

you see, if I can't get all these, I can't go up to GS, so please guys
help me, and many thanks in advance.

Have a nice thanksgiving weekend. (no, I don't have a turkey...)
