I have an Apple IIe that I use mostly as a terminal, but sometimes I run AppleWorks to rough draft materials. I've thought about using an electronic typewriter as a printer, but I'm not sure that is a good idea. I have two questions: 1) First, for the techies out there, is it possible to interface the IIe and the typewriter (as a printer)? and 2) Even if it can be done, is it a good idea? The typewriter is a Smith Corona. Its not bad, as typewriters go. It features dual pitch, auto return, auto center, auto underscore, full line correction, worderaser (erases whole word), and a 35,000 word dictionary. More importantly, it has a 9 pin female connector on the back -- I believe it is a "DB9" -- for computer input. Of course, I can find no documentation whatsoever for the typewriter! As for the IIe, I have a parelle interface card, but no serial card. I really don't need a printer on this system very much, but it might be handy once in a while. I'm sure if I had a system that worked, I could find new ways to use it! - Dave
