I've been reading all these articles about people having trouble with sys 5.0.3, and I've sort of ignored them, not having a hard drive and all.. Anyways, recently I've been having some major disk crashes, and errors, such $0027 (disk I/O error). I've never had any trouble with my disks or drives before so I started worrying. So, today I picked up 3M head cleaning kit (I haven't cleaned em since I got em 4 years ago!) But no luck, still lots of errors. So I figured it may have been drive speed problems (I've already several disk scans with no errors), but I couldn't find any. I ran Apple Diagonistics 3.0 and my TWGS diagnostics; no problems. In doing this I realized that all my problems were on disks which I had recently installed sys 5.0.3. Also, during all of my testing, I had turned off my TWGS. Now, I tried re-booting some of these disks, but I couldn't get them crash anymore.. ahh must of fixed em. So, I turned my TWGS, crash! I tried it several times, on/off/on/off ... Whenever I turn my Transwarp GS on, system 5.0.3 can't boot my disks. I've also crashed the Finder several times under 5.0.3 with the TWGS. It seems that the new code for faster reading must somehow be timing critical and my TWGS screwing things up. If anyone has had a similar problem, please send me mail. Also, if anyone has a phone # for Apple, I'll call them if others have had the same problem. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- >> Tim Meekins <<>> Snail Mail: <<>> Apple II << >> meekins@cis.ohio-state.edu <<>> 8372 Morris Rd. <<>> Forever! << >> timm@pro-tcc.cts.com <<>> Hilliard, OH 43026 <<>> << -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
