[comp.sys.apple2] AppleWorks 2.0 crash with 4MB RAM?

r.levy@cooper.cooper.EDU (Rami Levy ) (12/05/90)

I have just installed an Apricorn RAM card with 4MB of (80ns) RAM on my
GS. Everything still functions properly, except for AppleWorks 2.0. When
start it up, it freezes. I have a ROM 01 GS, TransWarp GS, Vulan 40MB.
I used to have an Apple Memory Card (w/1 MB RAM on it). Now my GS has
4.25 MB of RAM, and the Control Panel recognizes it all. The GS self-test
works fine as well. Can someone PLEASE help me as soon as possible? I
use AppleWorks a lot and need help quickly. I hope there is some kind of
special patch for Aplworks.system. I also have TO Graph, QuickSpell, Paint,
Word Count, Thesaurus, and Data converter patched to AW, but it doesn't
even get to the point of loading them up.
Thanks in advance for your help!!!

P.S. PLEASE respond to the address below, as I don't get to read the
newsgroup as often as I'd like.

I just purchaced and installed a 4MB board from LRO sales. I also filled
it with 80 nS chips. It works well, and passes all tests. While I have
upgraded to AW3.0, I recently tried to boot my old AW2.0. It also locked
up, forcing a reboot. I tried many programs, and the only other thing
that froze was my old Point-to-Point v2.0. Luckily I have not used it for
a long time. My guess is that it is a program problem, not a hardware
problem. If there is a new version of Point-to-Point, it probably works
with 4MB of RAM, though I am just guessing.
