Relay-Version:version B 3/9/83; site alice.UUCP Message-ID:<200@inuxa.UUCP> Date:Wed, 11-May-83 08:45:23 EDT Observation Report for 5/11/83: Comet 1983d was observed at Walter Wilkins Observatory (Indiana Astronomical Society) from 9:00 to 11:45 pm EST. During this time interval the comet moved approximately 6 degrees in a westerly direction. Coma size estimates were approx. 2 degrees using a pair of 10x50 binoculars. The coma size to the naked eye was about 1 degree. No magnitude estimates were made. When the comet was observed with the 12.5 inch f/4.5 newtonian, a very bright nucleus (star like in appearance) approx. magnitude 5.0. A lengthly search around the coma for a possible tail was made (visually) however this proved unsuccessful. Ron Meyer Indiana Astronomical Society inuxa!rrm
