Several people have mentioned recently that the IIgs DOC has 15 oscillators and with fancy programming as many as 30. Actually this is backwards! The DOC has 32 oscillators for use, and with fancy programming (actually just flipping a bit in a DOC register) the oscillators can be paired for higher quality sound, giving 16 "hi-fi" oscillators to work with. If you're using interrupts to play back sequenced music, an oscillator (or pair) is set aside to generate interrupts at the playback speed (this is how the Tool Sets do it). This leaves the famous 15 generators (there are still 32 oscillators). Of course, you can always play music using the oscillator that creates the interrupts (but not using Apple's Tools). Hope this clears up any confusions about the Ensoniq DOC. BTW, many people complain about programs (such as SoundSmith) which don't use looped sounds. It seems people think this is difficult to do...well, it isn't. It is simply a flag in the DOC's registers which specifies how the oscillator will play back the sound.
