..From: ma@pro-ice.cts.com (Brad Alabovitz) ..The //c was designed with laptop capabilities intended but i haven't ..seen the laptop kit on the market for years. Is it still sold and if ..so who sells it. Any info would be greatly appreciated. The portability of the "early" Apple IIc, the one with the external power 'brick' has been the subject of numerous conversations. Roger Coats Enterprises of San Diego sold in the past, a battery pack, carrying case combination along with a LCD display called C-VUE (no longer available.) which works well for a single user in the right lighting conditions. He also had a separate backlighting modification which cost as much as the display itself (read expensive). This setup has worked fine for me for years, in that I have used and hauled around my IIc at least monthly (and will tonight) for many years with these modifications with little problem other than a broken connector cable once. The battery pack and carrying case I believe are still available from Roger Coats (619) 274-1253. If not there is another company I talked to at the Long Beach A'fest that expressed interest in building an LCD display for the IIc if enough interest was generated. Their name is ALLTECH Electronics (Oceanside, Ca.) (619) 721-7733. They, by the way, handle all kinds of wonderment for the Apple II line which sometimes are hard to find (discontinued/used). Ask for a catalog, or look at A+/Incider for their add (page 94 in the Jan issue). The newer IIc that uses 120 Volt AC directly is a little more difficult to portablize in that it would be difficult to carry around an AC generator to provide power. Steve Palmore
