Hmm.. I have a question. If Quantum hd's have their own cache built in how does quick is it with the Apple High Speed SCSI? If anyone has this combination, could they please post some speed tests? Also, I'd be interested in seeing results from a Quantum and RamFast configuration. Is the difference in speed with a Quantum & Ramfast worth the price difference between say a Seagate & Ramfast? I was thinking about just getting a regular Seagate hd, and a RamFast for pure speed, but if the Quantum is comparable with the Apple HS SCSI, it might be worthwhile to stick with a standard. Does anyone have any info on Connor mechanisms? I've heard they have a 16k cache. Thanks. _______________________________________________ _______________ | Steve Chiang Apple //gs forever | Coming Soon: | |-----------------------------------------------|---------------| | Internet : stc7@cunixb.cc.columbia.edu | DreamGrafix | | America_Online : DWS Steve | 3200 power | |_______________________________________________|_______________|

I have a quantum with a High Speed SCSI. Seems to work fine. I've never used a non-quantum drive with it to tell you any speed difference. :) If you want, It can be turned off to do your own testing... Mabey one if these days if I feel ambitious and get enough requests, I'll try doing that myself. :) Mark [ Mark Steiger, Sysop, The Igloo 218/262-3142 300/1200/2400/9600 (HST/Dual)] ProLine.:penguin@gnh-igloo America Online: Goalie5 UUCP....:crash!gnh-igloo!penguin MCI Mail......: MSteiger Internet:penguin@gnh-igloo.cts.com
