[comp.sys.apple2] Fingerprint

STEIN@UCONNVM.BITNET (Alan Stein) (12/05/90)

A friend of mine has a Fingerprint (screen dump card) that bombs when
he uses it with Appleworks GS off his hard drive. It works fine when
he uses it with the finder, or with Appleworks GS off a floppy drive.

  Any ideas?

Fingerprint Version 3.0 is incompatible with the new high speed SCSI card.
They have known about it for some time now and probably won't do anything
untill they get more complaints. When I called them a couple of months ago
they said they were aware of the problem but they blaimed Apple and said it
was Apple's problem because fingerprint was out first. I think they need an
attitude check

I have a fingerprint and have had no problems with it. However, I had some
CDA's that also did screen saves/prints. They seemed to cause some
interfearance sometimes with the fingerprint. I removed them and have had no
problems with any programs at all. :)

Maybe not. System 5.0.3, has some SEVERE problems... It would do some REALLY
odd things to programs like ProTerm 2.2, and Apple is coming out with 5.0.4
anyways. Hopefully, these problems will clear up in System 5.0.4.

Care to share what problems 5.0.3 might have with ProTerm? The only
glitch I noticed is upon quitting back to the Finder from ProTerm: sometimes
I get the "One moment please..." and the hard drive stops spinning. Just a
minor annoyance.

Where did you hear that System 5.0.3 had any problems? Personally, I have been
using 5.0.3 with ProTERM 2.2 (and everything else) with no problems whatsoever.
Of course, System 5.0.3 doesn't "officially" support systems with less than 1
meg of memory (Apple says, in their tech note, that it MAY work, but they can't
say for sure because they haven't tested it)... System 5.0.4, to be released
sometime soon, as far as I know, is only a correction to a printer driver,
though I hope that it's more than that... The only way you'd be having problems
with 5.0.3 would be if you didn't use the installer to install it, or if you
have less than 1 meg of memory...

The GS will lose characters when in ProTerm launched from System 5.0.3. And
when I mean losing characters, I mean losing them even in the Control Panel and
on the modem and anywhere else while under System 5.0.3. I've tried it even
with a clean System 5.0.3 downloaded from America Online.
