I have an Apple //c and a Hayes-compatible 2400 baud modem, and I'd like the two to talk to one another. I have constructed a cable with the following connections: //c modem DTR1B DTR TD1B Transmit GND Common Return RD1B Receive DSR1B DSR After configuring the modem port for 2400 baud etc (all conforming to the modem's default settings) and entering terminal mode with IN#2, ctrl-A, T, I can talk to the modem just fine - my commands are echoed, I can view and change settings, etc. Now I call my host at the university, everything goes fine up to the "CONNECT 2400" message and the login prompt, and then I'm stuck: nothing I type seems to get sent to the host. To summarize: I can send and receive to the modem, but the modem does not send to the host, though it does receive. I use this same modem, connected to a Mac II with a three-wire connection, without any problems, so I tried disconnecting the handshake lines in the //c-modem cable. Alas, same result. What am I doing wrong? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Please e-mail responses. Thanks! Thomas (thomas@duteca.et.tudelft.nl)
