[comp.sys.apple2] IBM file archive formats

Is there any possible way to unzip an IBM archived file, possible PD or
Shareware?

Joe,
If you have a //gs and the APW or Orca shell, the answer is yes.

Is there a utility for the //e that will unzip an archive? I know that
there is a DeARC for the //e, but know of nothing for unzipping on the
//e.

Unfortunately I do not have either of the two. Now that the answer is
seemingly no, would it be a relatively simple task to write a program either
in assemble or applesoft that when fed the appropriate parameters, un-pack the
information? It would be neat, so to speak, to have such a program, that
could unpack or pack a file given a specific compression code you provide.
I bet pirates would have a great deal of fun with that however...

Ron,
I've never heard of a Prodos8 version of an unzipping utility. I think
I have the source code for the //gs version of Unzip lurking about. Not
that it would do you any good since I think it is in C.

Joe,
Well, I already responded to this (sort of) in a previous post, but hey..
it is only bandwidth. I think I have the //gs Unzip source code lurking
about somewhere but it is in C (I think).

As for a program for file compression with parameters, I actually had a
similar idea the other day but for the //gs (listen up developers):
A toolbox set that does file compression/decompression in all the popular
formats. Imagine the kinds of programs you could write. (Of course that
wouldn't help you in your immediate problem.)
