[comp.sys.apple2] Wanted: Printer Advice

scratch@unix.cis.pitt.edu (Steven J Owens) (01/10/91)

Hello,

Our family has an Apple II+ with an Okidata microline 92 printer (about
five years old). The printer head has gone bad, and the tech says that it will
cost $125 to fix it. Would it be a better idea to buy a new printer, or get
the Okidata rekpaired? There's a panasonic dot matrix printer available for a
very reasonable price, that we're thinking about buying. Should we?

Someone has offered us the use of an Alphapro 101 from Alphaco. We
don't know if it will work with the apple, nor what might be required. Any
advice?

Please respond via e-mail. If there is interest in the replies, I
will post a summary to the net.

"Yeah? Well they were just lying around in the office. We just scratched
out the parts that said "Kill" and "Maim," and substituted "Play Music.""

At a{hundred and twenty five for the new printer head???!?!?!

NO QUESTION THERE!

Buy a new printer -- althogh the oki is an ok printer there are many out
there that are much better ---

I would suggest looking to either panasonic or STAR

STAR has a color printer that is very nice for around 200.00 so I
would, if in the market go for that ---
