[comp.sys.apple2] HP48SX @ GS

asslk@acad2.anc.alaska.edu (Kingry Shane L) (01/13/91)

I have an HP48SX calculator, and a GS. I made a cable to connect the two
through the modem port, or either port for that matter. The cable works fine,
and that is not the problem.

HP decided to make KERMIT the protocal that the calculator operates on, which
really isn't the problem either. I can transfer text programs back and forth
using the translation code of 3 (on the HP), and ProTerm 2.2 with kermit.
However, most of the programs that come off of different FTP sights for my
calculator are in binary mode. ProTerm can not do that. BTW: I am not
talking about binary II. A friend who has a mac has a term program that will
transfer in kermit binary mode, so I know it can be done.

Question, does anyone have a program for the apple II that can do this. I
suppose any source for binary transfer and kermit protocal would help too, but
I would prefer not to have to write the program myself.

PLEASE:!: respond via e-mail, as I am not able to check all of the messages
that are posted here, and would most likely miss any posted reply.

Thank you!

    This is about the HP48SX....

You can do what you want with a program called Kermit. It can be
found on most FTP sites. tybalt comes to mind because I know it is there.
BTW....If you want people to reply to you via E-mail it helps if you include
  your E-mail address. :)
