I'm trying to get information about the Octoram memory card for the GS. I believe that someone sent me mail about where to get a hold of one of these, but it accidentally went out with the trash. Specifically, what I really want to knw is: 1) Can these things be used with 256k SIMMs (giving you 2 meg)? 2) Would it be DMA compatible in this configuration? 3) How much does it cost? 4) Where can I buy it? -- = R. Rumor is that MDIdeas went out of business, so if you happen to find one somewhere it might cost almost anything from free to perhaps $129 (unpopulated). I recommend using 1MB SIMMs unless you just happen to have a bunch of free 256KB SIMMs on hand already. With 1MB SIMMs the OctoRAM is DMA compatible up to 4MB and works with the Apple High-Speed (DMA) SCSI card even at 8MB (due to a kludge in the Apple card itself). I have one of these (8MB) and I like it.
