From what I've read and experienced, the maximum number is whatever you have room for and patience to wait for during reboots. I think recently I had about 17 or 18 in available mode and the only reason I removed some was to see if I could fix a hanging problem I'm having (which said removals did not remedy). The more NDA's you load in, the longer it takes to come up when you boot but other than those two highly variable factors I don't believe there is a limit. I guess a person could have a 40 mg harddrive of nothing but NDA's and the system disks (or a 60 or 110 or whatever..) and it would work fine, albeit better have a book to read when you boot up. :-)
