Help....... My 80 meg Quantum ProDrive that has functioned flawlessly until today has a problem. I had added nothing to my system except downloading a couple small text files (shouldn't matter), but when I went to boot up off the hard drive (as usual), the "Welcome to the IIGS" screen comes up, and the thermometer goes about half a centimeter and then stops. The system just locks up. I booted off floppy and checked the hard drive. All my files seem to be there. All the system files are there. I verified the entire 30 meg boot partition with both the finder and Copy II+ v9.0. Both tell me that there are no problems. I can't seem to find whatever is wrong. Can anybody out there help me?!?! I guess you'll want to know that I have a ROM 1 GS with 1.25 meg RAM, System 5.0.4, 80 meg hard drive (subject of this message :-( I have a couple of NDA's and other inits, but I've been using all of them for a pretty long time without any problems. Anyway I don't think it could be those anyway. It doesn't seem to get far enough into the boot process (about 1 sec into it and it crashes). Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated....... Thanks.... What SCSI card are you using with your Quantum and what slot is it plugged into? I think we can pretty much rule out corrupted software for now (GS/OS usually crashes with a Fatal Error message when that happens). Make sure your Control Panel settings are correct! Check to see that your slot assignments are set up properly, and that (ideally) your Startup Slot is set to where your SCSI card is sitting. Finally, do you have any 3.5" or 5.25" drives connected to the GS? - brian Brian T. Tao {taob@pnet91.cts.com} || Computer guru?
