Hi there! I'm a student at Penn State. I'm having a little trouble with transferring files from my Sun system to my GS. This is annoying because of all these GREAT programs that I didn't have last year will finally fit on my hard drive (Thanks Jeffrey!). Anyways, the problem is this. Uploading to the sun works (sometimes), but downloading to the GS always seems to choke. I'm using a GS with a ViVa 2400 baud modem. I'm connecting to a dataswitch at our local campus, which gives me access to the Office of Telecommunications telnet server. This gets me into my sun Just Fine. But, all my terminal programs (even Kermit) seem to die. I've tried setting parameters, doesn't help. I really need some help here as my VM account was cancelled just at the time I figured out how to send things with VM Kermit and get them to come through all right! Oh, second problem: I just acquired a hard disk (Sider 20 Meg, multi- OS roms) with system 5.02 on it. I got a copy of 5.04 from the store here, and I can not seem to be able to install it. If I boot up with the Sider and run the 5.04 installer, it says something to the effect of FILE SYSTEM:SYSTEM. RESOURCES NOT FOUND, and terminates. If I boot up with the floppy, I can't access my hard drive! What's the problem here? 5.04 had loads of features that I really liked (I actually dusted off my old MultiScribe GS to use with the new printer drivers!), and it is annoying to have to watch it print in the approx. 1 page every 3 1/2 hrs. that the old drivers did. Thanks for the help, in advance. ...Sal sal@psusun01.psu.edu sal@psusun03.psu.edu
