    That's not a bug of GSXEdit.  The default format it uses when saving a new
file is Teach format ($50/$5445).  You can tell it to save it as a normal
ASCII file (either in the File menu, or in the Save dialog itself).  The rez
fork keeps track of fonts/styles/sizes/colours used in the document.

    Why did you cut out the portion you wanted, and then paste it back in? 
Couldn't you have simply selected everything around the BASIC program and hit
Delete?  Much easier that way.
