Since there was a lot of interest about the Magnavox 1CM135 monitor, I thought I'd post a review of the monitor now that I have mine up and running. I bought the monitor from Lyco Computer. The total charge for the monitor was $261 shipped. For $2 in parts obtained from a local electronics store, I was able to convert the TTL cable that came with the monitor to a GS RGB cable (thanks to Jawaid Bazyar and his help). The result was outstanding. The monitor has several features not available on the GS monitor. The first thing I noticed was that it had the ability to produce stereo sound. I ran a cable from the head phone jack to the left stereo channel and the result was a much nicer GS speaker. I also now have the ability to turn the volume up and down without having to go into the control panel. The second benefit that I found with this monitor is that it is bigger than the GS monitor. The picture is larger, making text easier to read. I also do not experience as many interference lines (which is very noticable when running the finder). Third was the ability to use this monitor with other machines. The monitor has switch buttons in the back that allow the user to configure up to 5 different video display types, which are well documented in the manual. The monitor itself comes with a 2 year parts and labor warranty. As you have probably already guessed, I am very happy with the monitor. The one problem I encountered was a problem with the monitor interfering with the 5.25 disk drive. This was solved when I moved the drive further away from the monitor. I hope this info has been useful. If any of you ever decide to get one, mail me for the pinouts on converting the TLL cable so you can use it on your GS. -Scott -- = R.
