For those who have inaccurately heard about it before, here's some info on our Upcoming Fest which should be considered a Major kick in the pants for the lazy users. This is a BIG boost to the Apple II world, and it shouldn't be taken lightly. -- The BAAUG The BAAUG <B>AY <A>REA <A>PPLE ][ <U>SERS <G>ROUP You've probably heard about it before, and it has been described as a simple user's Fest, but it has gone beyond more than that. When the rumours flew abundant, they called it FriscoFest. But now, it has arrived and you can play a vital role in this game just by attending...and now, we present to you the: Unveiling BAAUGFest '91-The grandest Apple II show in history-EVER! BAAUGFest is the event to mark on your calendars that you don't want to miss. You may believe that Apple wants to drop the II, and some of the people there want you to think that. BAAUG was a forming of users who are a network which knows all sides of the story. We're here not to fight, not to have our knowledge squeezed out for the mere reason of turning a profit, we CARE. Just because Apple pulled their Ad from InCider, doesn't mean much-AppleFest has been using crude and unethical marketing techniques. Their current PR brags 35 Confirmed exhibitors with more on the way... why so few? According to local stores, if you want your money back for AppleFest, Apple could delay shipments and put a squeeze on your store, forcing an inevitable Chapter 13 Filing. It is obvious what has happenned. Apple Claimed they didn't provide any funds, and now they probably know the whole truth. The BAAUGFest works on the same principles of the FTA. Using past programmer experience, we're really going to pack all that is humanly possible into one weekend, and set the real truth straightforward in everyone's mind. The small companies that contain the real gems in the industry now have a chance to shine. Most companies aren't being asked to our fest to just sell products, they will be there to show that when it really counts, they care enough to be there. All funds raised will have a major say in the future of this computer, and now, you the owners of said computer have your chance to raise your voice, too. BAAUGFest has been scheduled for April. This time was selected so that it would not interfere with the schedule of the southern California AppleFest in December and the East Coast Fest in the spring (which has now been cancelled). Why? With the reality of "AppleFest" being moved to southern California so that it could be held in conjunction with the Macintosh show, it may be assumed that: a... the convention developers feel that the Apple ][ cannot support a show of its own and that it is a crippled and antiquated system. b... they apparently intend to eventually phase out this show in the future. This is clearly incorrect and unacceptable. We believe that with advertising alone the dynamic capability of the Apple ][ will become apparent to the first time home computer buyer, small businesses and other interested parties. Factually, there is NOTHING that any other personal computing system can do, including Macintosh and MS-DOS based systems, that an Apple ][ cannot do. If basic design developments are made to the ][ by Apple Inc it would serve to further enhance its appeal to this available market. The keyword is exposure. I'm sure that with proper attendance figures, many eyes will open and something can be said for the computer, instead of brushing it off with just a biased opionion. Do your part now and extend the lifesblood of this immesurable asset to the future of computing... If you really care about your computer, then isn't it worth showing your support? All it takes you right now is One Stamp. Simply mail off the enclosed form, and when available, future updates will be mailed to you. It's that simple. (People who sent in "The Frisco Festival" Flyers, we still have your names, expect to hear something soon!) Right now, most people probably don't think we're too serious. But if you're trying to save a worthwhile computer, doesn't it take a little faith? Fill this out and send it in today! ------------<Cut Here>-----------<Cut Here>-----------<Cut Here>--------------- Yes! Please place me on the mailing list.
