Randy Hyde: I have not yet had time to read carefully your article on the proposed '820 chip, but could you give me a synopsys on how you intend to insure 6502 and 65816 compatiblity? I suspect that with a 32 bit bus, you read 4 bytes and discard the remainder if less than 4 are required, an 8-bit load for instance. I am curious how an 8-bit store would be accomplished though, PHP for example. This be a prime requirement for an '02/'816 replacement in order for it to continue to run all existing software. I suppose that if you are throwing compatibility out the window it doesn't matter, but then you might as well just design an 88000 chip set and be done with it. When I am feeling better, I will read your ideas more carefully and respond with what I like and dislike in more detail. UUCP: bkj386!pnet91!ericmcg INET: ericmcg@pnet91.cts.com
