[comp.sys.apple2] unidisk 3.5" vs //gs,//c+,mac 3.5"

What's the difference between a unidisk 3.5" disk drive and the the 3.5"
drive that all the other apples use? I have a //c that I'd like to get
a 3.5" drive for, but I don't like the idea of spending $300 on a drive
that I can't use on a gs or mac. Even more annoying is the fact that the
other type of 3.5" drives are available for <$200. Is there any way to
modify the drive or the //c to make the more common drive work?

The unidisk 3.5 and the other Apple disk 3.5 differ in that the Unidisk has
a 65C02 inside that runs things. The Mac/Apple 3.5 doesn't and will not
work on the IIc, and as I understand the reverse is also true, although I
haven't tried that combination.
