(1) I have a 1 meg Apple Memory Expansion Card in my Apple //e and when I tried using it with a Zip 8 MHz Chip, it didn't work when accessed at 8 MHz. I assume that was due to its being stocked with 150 ns RAMs. Can anyone verify this? What speed of RAM chip does work with an 8 MHz Zip Chip? (2) Also, can a Transwarp access the Memory Card at full speed (given the 120 ns RAM it needs)? (3) Are the Zip Chip and Transwarps DMA compatible? More importantly, will they work with the Apple Hi-Speed SCSI Card? E-mail or post responses as you see fit. -- Eric Hsu ehsu@husc4.Bitnet, ehsu@husc9.harvard.edu

I heard from somebody on GEnie that the 8-MHz ZipChip does have problems with slinky-RAM cards. A TransWarp will work fine with them, however. He didn't mention anything about DMA compatibility, though; I suppose we're still waiting for that answer. BTW, a RamWorks-type memory expansion will work with either the Zip8 or TransWarp. If the Zip8 doesn't interfere with the Apple DMA SCSI card, I'll probably get one when I have the $$$ for it. (I have a 1-meg RamWorks III, so the accelerator won't screw it up.)
