G'day ! I have discovered (after the subject was raised on the net) that I have an original Apple //c (what you irreverently call a boat anchor :-). I use it for my and my family's pleasure at home, and I have been toying with the idea of having a hard disk for it. From what I understand, I need the Unidisk version of the //c in order to be able to hook up a HD. So, my questions are : 1) Is it possible to upgrade my //c ? What does it take to do the job (as an EE I have no fear of a soldering iron :-) ? 2) How much would it cost (is there a *free* upgrade ?) ? 3) Will I still be able to use my 5.25" drives ? 4) If it's do-able, where can I get parts (I'd prefer addresses in OZ, but I guess I'll have to settle with any address :-( ? 5) I have an AE Z-RAM-Ultra 3 card plugged in. Will that still work ? 6) I've heard of a Chinook drive for the //c, has anyone more details about available HD's for the //c, such as price, vendors, availability capacity, etc.. ? 7) Assuming all these questions get positive answers, would it be possible to partition the HD into ProDOS, DOS3.3, Pascal, CP/M ? I use ProDOS most, but it would be nice to have at least another partition, I guess. I hope this post makes it out to the wide world and that there are enough non-GS people out there to read it :-) ... and answer my questions ! Thanks in advance Andrew Guillaume Internet : a.guillaume@trl.oz.au
