I don't know what AppleWorks will do to the file but I expect that most simple editors will just display garbage on the first and "For:" line, which are the two lines you need to delete for my method. I haven't yet tried the 'waittimeout' method, but I will next time I go to print, though I doubt it will work here as the error I usually get is "Binary file spooled" because of the control characters in the two lines I mentioned above.
