I think II owning Apple Computer, Inc. haters are thinking straight. Apple was producing a product that ABSOLUTELY requires long-term support. A product people clearly wanted (5 million + out there). There was a real, real, real large amount of $$$$$$ to be made on the II. Apple beat IBM to the PC market by about <> 5 years <>. There's no excuse for Apple not having 95% of the desktop pc market right now. They just sat on the II's, pushing alot of machines (III, III+, Lisa, etc.) that were okay computers, but that we just didn't want. I think when a computer company sells you a machine, they owe you around 5 years of dedicated support if at all possible. If Apple had kept II R&D and <> MARKETING <> inline, I think there would be a 15MHz 65832 based Apple IIx with 16-Meg RAM and 640x400x4096 graphics on every desk that now has a Mac or IBM. Buying a computer from a company that has a history of screwing over its customers is crazy. My next machine might be from IBM, who is still making big, big computers that maintain compatibility with their first PC. Maybe an Amiga, or a NeXT, but NOT a Mac. Never. I love my GS, and it will continue to meet my needs well into the next century. I realize the 65816 is far from perfect, but if Apple had committed to it, it would be a great CPU by now. Well, I'm rambling... ________________________ _________________________ | ProLine: crew@pro-harvest | | Internet: crew@pro-harvest.cts.com | | UUCP: crash!pro-harvest!crew | | ARPA: crash!pro-harvest!crew@nosc.mil | |_______________ BITNET: crew%pro-harvest.cts.com@nosc.mil _________________|
