I would like to turn my GS into an answering machine. I think it can be
done, considering I have a:
Sonic Blaster Digitizer (even though, technically, you do not need a card
to digitize sound with your GS)
USR 14.4k bps modem (something to answer the phone with)
Transwarp GS (speed!)
Hard Drive (space!)
I was thinking I could rig up my own 'speaker phone' where the outgoing
message could be played with the digitizer's OUT connection, and IN would
come from the person talking. I think it would be easiest to buy a cheap
speaker phone from radio shack and dismantle it for its parts.
I could then have the modem go off hook after a couple of rings, play a
message, and record for something like 30 seconds, then hang up (ath0).
Problems: I do NOT know how to address the digitizer directly, or to even
control the digitizer without the software that came with it.
What would really be neat would be a voice mailbox system! It would
have to be able to distinguish between voice and the # on the keypad
pressed.
Any ideas? Anyone want to help??
