As you will have guessed from the title, this article has to do with Hyper C for the Apple//e. I recently acquired it from various ftp sites around north america. I have the ProDOS version up and running like a charm, except for a couple of things which I will get to in a few moments. The major concern of this article is CDOS. That is the bootable version of Hyper C which I also have a copy of. It is not compatible with DOS 3.3, ProDOS, Pascal, CP/M or anything else I can find - hence the problem. The disk I have is missing one file, namely OPSYS. This is a rather important file and I am prevented from doing anything much without it. Because none of the other operating system recognize the CDOS disk I can't move files to or from it and am therefore prevented from gaining access to several really useful utilities which I know are on the CDOS disk. IT IS A REAL NUISANCE!!!!! Several of the utilities that I need for library management are on the CDOS disk but not included in the ProDOS version. In addition, there are several "training" utilities that it would be nice to have access to. Because I don't have OPSYS I can't do things like check what volumes are online, get help (by typing ?) or very many other things like move or copy (mv, cp) just to name a couple more. If you have a copy of Hyper C with a CDOS disk that works, i.e. has OPSYS on it, I would very much like to hear from you. In addition, if you have ProDOS compatible versions of the following utilities (or their equivalents, or know how to transfer from CDOS to ProDOS) I would like to hear from you also: echo format lib list print testflags As if the fore-going wasn't enough, if anyone has original C code for any or all of the parts of Hyper C I would very much like to get copies of that also. Thanks very much in advance. Bill Carss bill@braille.uwo.ca P.S. Of course, what I have is available to anyone on request and I will certainly post COMPLETED versions of everything when and if I get them. -- Bill Carss bill@braille.uwo.ca
