To keep ya all up to date, I just added three files to "ShellStuff". tr - the Berkeley 4.3bsd reno distribution translate chars program grep - great utility for searching through text files for regular expressions dhrystone - a program to compare your compiler/computer to others. an unaccelerated GS pulls 270, a 33MHz '386 gets 10000. Also, I'd like to announce new routines in the library. In addition to "stat" which I did the other day, I added GNU getopt and a compatibility library for the Unix b* routines (bcopy, bzero, etc). I've a question- ShellStuff is getting big. Really big. I'm going to start distributing source and executables separately, so that people with orca/c don't have to get the executables- they'll have the fun of seeing Orca work correctly for a change. But in general, how should I start splitting this thing up? Any suggestions? -- Jawaid Bazyar |"I'm sure K&R have never heard of Mike." Senior/Computer Engineering | bazyar@cs.uiuc.edu |"That's okay. Ouch. A factor of almost 40 times? (Dhrystone on 33MHz '386 compared to a 2.8MHz '816) Hmmm. Maybe it IS time to get a NeXT. Ooops, didn't say that... :) What compiler on the '386 did you use?
