Hello out there! I just wanted to tell everyone that I'm going to try uploading my current Apple IIgs Unzip program to the "binaries" thing. It's _not_ anywhere near finished; however, since some folks expressed interest in the thing, I might as well let 'em have it. If I manage to upload it correctly, then you can test it yourself; however, if I mess something up, here's some more numbers: Comparing my Unzip thing to Martin E. Peckham's Unzip thing has shown my program to be anywhere from 4.8 to 6.9 times faster than his program. Since the "4.8x faster" figure was from a very small file, and the "6.9x faster" figure was from a 100K+ file, I assume there is some room for improvement in my file i/o code. Asking gs/os to cache the file read calls should help a little. If anyone wants to give me some pointers on improving the speed of this thing, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
