Is there an FTP site where I might find Stuffit for ProDOS? On sumex-aim.stanfor.edu there are some SoundMaster files for the Mac I'd like to download and play on my //e, but they seem to have the .hxq (or .hqx..whatever) extension on them and somebody told me that Stuffit will take care of that for me. BTW: what are some Apple II ftp sites? _________________________________________________________________________ | Move over Rover & |Email Addresses: Kent Squires | | let Jimi take over!| Internet: kjs39186@uxa.cso.uiuc.edu | | -------------------| ProLine: kents@pro-apa | | I wouldn't do it |_______ America OnLine: kents12 | | for all the farms in Cuba! | FidoNet: 233/15 Kent Squires | |____________________________|____________________________________________|

You can also get a program on sumex.stanford.edu called "mcvert".. It un-MacBinaries (.hqx) files on UNIX. Very useful. ShrinkIT GS also does it... Good idea reason for you to upgrade to a GS isn't it?? -- <unknown@ucscb.ucsc.edu Apple IIGS Forever! ULTIMA VI GS -mail me. CDs-mail me>

GSHK doesn't un-hex Mac .hqx files, but GScii+ (by Derek Taubert) _will_. Then you can use GSHK to unStuff the resulting archive (as long as it wasn't created by the newer StuffIt Deluxe, or have password protection and segmentation in the archive). Brian T. But you should, shouldn't you?? heh heh.. [Just like the '486 user says everyone should have that!] You aren't at a Pro-line site, so I'm presuming you're on UNIX. Just get MCVERT for unix like I said.. ftp it from sumex.stanford.edu.. I don't know what directory it's in. -- <unknown@ucscb.ucsc.edu Apple IIGS Forever! ULTIMA VI GS -mail me. CDs-mail me>

In-Reply-To: message from kjs39186@uxa.cso.uiuc.edu No offense, I think you should buy a IIgs, and if you can afford it, keep the IIe. The IIgs is MUCH, MUCH more powerful. +--------------------------------------------+-------------------------------+ |ProLine: aford@pro-mansion | E-Mail me for a good | |Internet: aford@pro-mansion | | |UUCP: crash!pro-mansion!aford | Signature | |ARPA: crash!pro-mansion!aford@nosc.mil | | |BitNet: aford%pro-mansion.cts.com@nosc.mil| | +--------------------------------------------+-------------------------------+ | Maybe something here too | If it fits here there's room | +--------------------------------------------+-------------------------------+

The IIgs is MUCH, MUCH more powerful. Well, if I could afford to buy a IIgs, I'd wait until I got a little more money and buy an IBM. I'm having serious hardware problems with my //e right now and it's driving mad.

In-Reply-To: message from kjs39186@uxa.cso.uiuc.edu Yeah this reminds me of the way IIGS users feel when a Mac user says oh well, you should have bought a Mac!! And like someone once said around here, just because Apple WILL one day stop making any of it's current computers in favor of a new a better one does not mean that the one I bought and invested time and money in has just stopped working. I also would like to see a program that could handle Stuffit files and work on my IIe, and not being a programer the only other choice I have is to ask.
