I am not happy. While at lunch today I noticed a new Apple dealer had sprung up in my area. Being curious I stopped by. Not one Apple II product to be seen. I spoke with the salesperson and she said that they had no plans to sell any II products. I also asked her about the rumour that Sears was going to market the II. She said it was true but didn't know if it was going to be Sears or possibly Kmart. She then proceeded to tell my that the kind of people who would buy an Apple II are the same kind of people who would shop at Kmart (old obese ladies wearing polyester????) as if we were some kind of second class citizens. I felt like clobbering her, but hey, I'm a gentleman. :) Any way, for what it's worth....... ps. I have nothing against Kmart, somethings should be bought there because it's cheap. Maybe it would be a good thing to have Kmart market the II but I really didn't appreciate the 2nd class citizen thing. _____________________________________________________________________ "it's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine" R.E.M. --------------------------------------------------------------------- driver8

Perhaps it would behoove you to inform your Apple regional representative that you will never buy any products from that specific dealer, and why.

Well, this Kmart/Sears stuff has been kicked around for a while. The reason why people (Including ME) dislike the idea for marketing II's there is quite obvious. I have many times strolled around kmart's computer section to see Commodores ripped appart, lying around doing nothing, or computers piled up, with a big red BARGAIN poster on it, as if it was a junk sale. They do not sell this gear with a real lot of pride. Not enough for an apple II anyway. When i purchased my II. /// and GS, i purchased them from an apple dealer. A place that was home to any apple. And i felt i could go back there if i need to for virtually any reason. Not with Kmart. You'll most likely find they turned that department into a petshop or lighting section, and tell you the computers were now up the back. I am an apple tech, and am more familiar with the way apple set up shop. and this good. People actually like this. they feel at home, or know they are in a specialised section of apple's industry. But this home is now being considered for macintosh only. I do not wish to see this happen. Apple is a company with a lot of pride, and they will and do always stand there ground. So why should they send the apple II to a discount house to be piled up and flogged off as if it was just another brick in Kmarts/sears wall that will loose the pride of its name. Steve h .
