Do you really for a maintenance contract on your NeXT? I wouldn't. I can't see how owning a NeXT would cost anymore than owning a Mac. As for software for the NeXT, Sure it may be slightly on the expensive side ($100-$1,000), but have you priced software on the PC or the Mac lately? Software may be somewhat cheaper on the GS, but you ain't gonna run Lotus IMPROV (written in Objective C, I might point out :-) ) on a GS. As for the 105mbyte system being unusable, the only reason it's unusable is because NeXT gives you so much free software it doesn't all fit on the disk. If you limit yourself to one application (like Write Now) and don't try creating mega graphic files, you can get by with 105 mb. You can do a lot better on a NeXT with 105 than you can with 40 on a Mac (or 20 on a GS). Of course, if Mach were written in assembly rather than C.... :-) If you do find 105mb limiting, you can get an external SCSI drive for a mac for $300-$1,000 (depending upon *how* limiting you find 105) and that solves that problem. I don't own a NeXT, but I've had the priviledge to use one here at UCR. Given the gung-ho types around here, the NeXT is *the* machine I would recommend as a replacement for the GS. People can cry about lack of support when NeXT goes belly up in a couple of years!
