I'm using my good 'ol Apple II+ for telecommunicating via a mainframe at our institution. I'm wondering whether I'm able to configure my system to properly display hilite'ing while reading news. The Amdahl (mainframe) has LOTS of drivers for various terminals. I'm using a driver that's for an Apple II+ (with Videx 80 and custom scroll), so it seems to send the proper control codes for the card to display inverse chars. The inverse character set can be displayed using <ctrl>-Z, followed by either 2 (for normal) or 3 (for inverse). Now it seems that the mainframe is sending the proper control sequence, but my computer seems to only acknowledge the <ctrl>-Z part as a control sequence and just prints either 2 or 3 on my screen. Now I don't think that it is either the mainframes nor the 80-col Videx card that is screwing up here, but rather the Packard Bell PB2400plus modem (Hayes Smartmodem compatible) or the ASCII Express (ProDOS version) software that is. Both of these have loads of settings, many of which overlap. I've configured my end soas AEPro does most of the work (as opposed to the modem) since it's alittle easier to setup. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
