Why is everybody getting so worked up over the WORST demo I've ever seen?
I mean- if this guy was serious, was REALLY "testing the waters", he'd have
put in *some* functionality. And if was really capable of doing the project,
he'd have done something to show us that fact. Personally, I think he's
some 14 year old pirate who boasted he was going to make the best game ever
and his friends called his bluff. So he drew a stupid Mario bros. screen,
and is probably a pirate-circle outcast to this day.
Of course, that's just my interpretation.

Because, even though I'm not the world's greatest Super Mario Brothers
fan, I like the idea of people writing more stuff for the GS. (And I have
a quite a few ideas of things to write, but I realized I now need Toolbox
#3 AND the GS/OS manual too to do write some of the programs)

Also, even though I'm not the biggest fan, I do like Super Mario
Brothers II, and probably would like III too.

For a third thing, if it's done as a freeware program, maybe it'll
get Nintendo all pissed off and they won't be able to do anything
(especially if the guy doesn't put his name on the release version). I
really really dislike Nintendo's business practices, and doubt I'd buy a
Nintendo ever unless I got some spectacularly great deal. They even
said they'd give people $5 gift certificates because some government
agency got all pissed at 'em (FTC?) because they were price fixing. That
and the fact that they control who writes software for the damn thing
pisses me off, even though the few games I've seen are pretty good.

A little explanation.. The last paragraph was a bunch of my
opinions, and has little to do with why I'm "worked up" about the demo.
I like the game and would like to see it on my GS.. Getting Nintendo hot
under the collar would just be frosting on the cake. heh

Nope.. There's some guy who reads this newsgroup who knows the
guy who did the demo. The guy with Usenet access may reply to this and clarify
things, but he said that the demo_writer only got like 3 letters about the
game (one of them being mine!). So the programmer put SMB GS on the back
burner and may never go back to it.
