Soon I hope to inherit an old ][+. It has 64k RAM, a monochrome monitor, two 5 1/4 inch floppies, and a joystick. The keyboard was replaced a year or two ago by one from a company other than apple (I forgot which one) and now has a shift-lock key where formerly there was a power light. Anyway, I want to be able to use it, and use it with as current software as is possible. Mostly I expect to play games with it, but I could very easily do some communications over a modem, and some word processing. So, I need some advice. I gather that 128 is the rock bottom amount of memory that most programs expect, I also realize that an 80 column card is in order. So, I would like some recommendations on memory boards, 80 column cards, disk drive controllers and disk drives (the 3 1/2 inch variety), and so on. Can this 7 year old computer be made to use more current software than what we bought with it, or should I just be content with what I have? Please e-mail to me directly, I don't normally read this group, but I probably will in the future, but I still would like responses sent to me directly.
